Famous for the Cheshire Plain, Cheshire cheese and the surreal smiling Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland, there are plenty of sights to enjoy. The Roman city of Chester is the county seat although the largest town is actually Warrington. Crewe is another well-known Cheshire town, famous for its massive railway interchange. Some of the more historic towns have beautiful black-and-white timbered architecture making them pretty as a picture.
