This camera points almost due North. To the West is the Peak District (heading off towards Manchester) and to the East is Sheffield Centre itself. Our view is mixed, let's say - with a suburb and some nice greenery!
For the tech-hungry out there - the camera is a Y-Cam Bullet HD, and this feed uses its scaled-down 640x352 MPEG4 output. We spent a couple of days finding the best way to stream this out on a popular streaming service (Camstreams), and settled on a piece of software called 'Blue Iris'. It transcodes the MPEG4 stream into Windows Media format for broadcast. This page downscales the image slightly to 576x317. The stream is fixed at 512kbps, so you do need decent broadband to watch. There is a viewer limit, so if the cam doesn't connect, it could have hit that, or the cam could be temporarily offline.
If you use Windows, you can double-click the stream to go full-screen and do the same (or press 'escape') to get out of full-screen.
