Watch Observatory Upgrade at Cranbrook Institute of Science

The Cranbrook Institute of Science is currently renovating their observatory, and anyone can watch along as it happens via webcam.

The upgrade to their observatory involves three new research-grade telescopes. The webcam will show both the demolition of the old observatory and the construction of the new.

All quiet at the observatory.

The work on their observatory is part of a major renovations at the institute. These upgrades have included a new 360-degree projector has been recently installed in their planetarium. It will allow live images from the institute’s telescopes to be displayed within the planetarium. They expect this to make their planetarium the best in Midwest USA.

The work is expected to finish around September 2012.
