Webcams are commonly used to allow people to avoid bad weather, but when the Kelso family saw snow on a webcam showing Lake Rotoiti, they decided to chase the bad weather!
Lake Rotoiti is located in Nelson Lakes National Park in New Zealand. The park covers over 1000 sq. km and is administered by the Department of Conservation. They are also responsible for setting up and maintaining the Rotoiti webcam.
Over 100 people, including the Kelso’s, played in the snow at Kerr Bay at Lake Rotoiti last Saturday. Mr Kelso and his three boys enjoyed riding a toboggan and throwing snowballs. They also made a snowman which they named Flakie.
