It’s no fun for many, caught up in the worst winter weather in living memory, knee deep in snow with continuing freezing temperatures. Britain is as well-prepared as usual-– running out of road grit and salt in West Berkshire. Perhaps they’ll have to do what enterprising homeowners are doing – using cat litter! I presume it’s clean…….
I’m still smiling over the sudden lack of interest in global warming theories since the Copenhagen summit — see our
earlier blog.
Well you haven’t logged on to Camscape to hear me moan. Let’s get down to some great snow pictures on our live webcams. First off is the highest shop in Britain, the Flash Stores on the A53 just outside the Pennine spa town of Buxton. It’s not much better at the bleak scene from the well known Cat and Fiddle Pub, England’s second highest pub, located on the road between Macclesfield and Buxton.
Further north, the M8 just west of Edinburgh is not as busy as usual either and scenes from Durham Cathedral look just like a Christmas card. The Lake District is beautiful at any time of year but just look at these gorgeous views of Scafell Pike and Lingmell Fell in the Lake District. It is a beautiful place to live–as long as you don’t want to pop out to the shops for a month or so. It’s also looking particularly parky at the Weeley weather station in Essex.
To all those of you are housebound, the rest of the world is shivering in sympathy with you. I always head south for the winter and this year chose to spend 3 months in Miami, but I am probably even colder than you! Temperatures here reached freezing last night (almost unheard of), but the problem is, the air-con works fine but my rented condo does not have any heating, so I am shivering over the electric oven! And I wish I’d packed a woolly or two!! Here’s the view of
Sunny Isles and the North Miami intercoastal waterway and skyline to cheer you!
Well, that’s got you started. Now it’s up to you to search out your own home town webcams or browse the winter snow scenes through some of our many other worldwide webcams.

Well, I think it’s more about climate change now than global warming with extremes in weather.
Here in Washington, DC, temperatures have been averaging far below normal so far this winter, and we’ve had a lot of snowfall with a near-blizzard last month.
I love browsing webcams from all over the world to catch all the winter weather scenes happening. Thanks for the discussion.
Yes, you’re right. There has been a subtle change in the political agenda, namely addressing “climate change” rather than “global warming”. The exceptionally cold winter across the States and Europe is certainly thought-provoking.
Stay warm, and I hope you continue to enjoy the webcams throughout the seasons.
