An osprey webcam located at Lake Pend Oreille, Sandpoint, Idaho, has recently shown a chick hatch. The adult ospreys have been feeding the little chick, while webcam watchers have been hoping that a second egg will also hatch.
As you would expect, the hatching has brought a flood of webcam viewers. When the eggs were laid in May, the webcam was already receiving thousands of views each day.
The webcam is online thanks to work from both the City of Sandpoint, Sandpoint Online, Avista, and Northland Communications. In order for the webcam to be set up, the nest also had to be moved. Thankfully, the birds moved in to their new home.
The webcam has picked up quite a lot of activity in the last few months. In April, another osprey couple tried to take over the nest for themselves, but they failed.
