Our Top 2009 Webcams – Is Your Favourite Here?

January 1st, 2010 by Gill

Doing a ‘Year in Review’ is almost obligatory for all types of media, so to broaden your experience of some of our 1,385 webcams (and growing), here are some of the most popular webcams. Needless to say, animals feature high on our viewers’ list. Several enterprising webcam fans set up webcams to watch birds’ nests. Scottish Wildlife Trust showed ospreys in Dunkeld, Scotland but this was obviously a short-lived sites as the ospreys eventually migrated to Africa. One of the most viewed webcams was the birdtable in the Isle of Man, and the clearest is definitely Salia’s birdcam, zoomed in on the Connecticut bird feeder.

Beach views are always popular (wonder why?) but some of the most viewed were the webcams in Bergamo, Italy. Located between the lovely Lake Como and Lake Garda it is a great way to view the area before booking your vacation. Checkout some of your holiday hotspots on our worldwide webcams and see the weather, the traffic and the general area in preparation for your visit.

People use our webcams for all sorts of reasons. The topical snowman webcam is excellent and faithfully records snowfall in both depth and weight at Gaylord, Michigan. Checkout this excellent woodland view year round to see deer, turkeys, foxes, raccoons, porcupines and other local wildlife which may wander into view.

A personal favourite has to be the French bakery, Boulangerie Bonneau. Follow them cooking their French bread from Wednesday to Sunday from 5am local time. You can almost smell it cooking in the stone oven! The beautiful patisseries and gateaux are quite divine, beautifully prepared as only the French can do. How they remain so thin as a nation beats me!

The wonders of webcams give ordinary people access to some of the most amazing situations. Our Antarctica webcams are a great case in point as you can see views around the Antarctic Research station or observe the cute antics of the Gentoo penguins from a number of cameras. Whatever you enjoy, there’s a webcam to enhance your interest, and we expect 2010 to bring you an even wider selection.

Why not make it your new year’s resolution to login to our webcams daily and learn something new from around the world?
