Colombia is one of the most megadiverse countries in the world, spanning the Andes Mountains, the Amazon Rainforest and both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. It has 15 major volcanoes and suffers many earthquakes. Colombia has a population of almost 45 million and was named after Christopher Columbus who navigated and colonized much of the Americas.
The capital city is Bogotá and its architecture is featured on some of our Colombia webcams. It is a safer country for tourists than it used to be, thanks to the reduction in armed conflict. Colombia is well known for its exports of emeralds, coffee, fresh flowers and unfortunately for its illegal drug trade too.
