The Isle of Wight is England’s largest island but it does not have a lot of competition. Located 3-5 miles off the south coast of England, it is easily reached by ferry or hovercraft. The island attracts plenty of summer visitors, particularly during the Cowes Regatta. Non-sailors can enjoy visiting Osborne House, the former home of Queen Victoria; the Needles, an interesting chalk formation; pretty Shanklin with its thatched cottages and the first dinosaur museum in the country.
