Although tiny, covering just 245,000 km2 (94,600 square miles) the UK was the world’s foremost power in the 19th and 20th centuries with an empire which covered every continent across the globe. It has a rainy, temperate climate with historic cities, rugged highlands of Scotland, many national parks and quaint rural villages.
