San Marino Webcams
The Republic of San Marino is completely surrounded by Italy. It is situated in the Apennine Mountains and covers just 60km2. San Marino is the oldest sovereign state and constitutional Republic in the world, as it was founded in A.D. 301 by stonecutter Marinus of Rab after whom it was named. He was seeking religious freedom from persecution as a Christian. This remote and inaccessible enclave has been a refuge for many over its long history.
Its highest point in Monte Titano, 749m (2457 feet) above sea level. Although San Marino is not a member of the EU, it uses the euro as its currency. The 30,000 population speak mainly Italian.
