Moldova Webcams
The little-known Republic of Moldova is located between Romania and the Ukraine. It was named after the Moldova River and its valley which was a major political centre in 1359. For those who are curious, check out what it’s really like on our Moldova Webcams.
It is a relatively poor country, especially since the fall of the former Soviet Union, with more than 25% of its population living on less than $2 per day. It gained its independence in 1991. Moldova’s main economy is based on agriculture and fruit, vegetables, wine and tobacco which are all produced here.
Most of the country lies between two main rivers, the Dniester and the Prut which flows into the Danube. The capital city of this landlocked country is Chisinau, which is in the centre of the country.
